OREANDA-NEWS. August 6, 2007. JSC "Belarusian Potash Company", the world's leading exporter and sole supplier of potash fertilizers manufactured by RUE "PA Belaruskali" (Soligorsk, Belarus) and JSC "Uralkali" (Berezniki, Russia) to overseas markets, announced its performance results for the first half of 2007.

During the first 6 months of 2007, BPC supplied more than 5 million t. of potash to overseas markets, which is a 47% increase in volume compared to the same period of 2006. In particular, 3,6 million tonnes of the volume sold originated in RUE "PA Belaruskali" (a 53% increase), and 1,4 million tonnes (2,2 million tonnes including the volume supplied to China by railway under BPC supervision) came from JSC "Uralkali" (a 41% increase). The export sales returns amounted to USD 0,9 billion, which is a 61% increase over the previous year.

Since the beginning of 2007, the company has strengthened its leadership in the world markets, and was remarkably successful with price increases in favour of its shareholders. In June 2007, BPC got a USD 50 pt price increase accepted by IPL, India's major importer. Since February 2007, after the relevant contracts had been signed with Sinochem and CNAMPGC, the price went up by USD 5 for the customers in China, making it the second price increase for very significant market in less than 7 months (back in July 2006, the price was increased by USD 25 pt.). For Brazil, the price generally went up USD 100 from January to August 2007. Starting from October 01, 2007, the price for potash fertilizers will be increased by another USD 25 to a total of USD 305 and USD 315 for major and minor importers respectively. The company's great success in the world's biggest markets, which as early as the first half of 2007, made it possible for BPC to break the psychological price barrier of USD 300 pt in some markets of South-East Asia, where the price increase was around 50%.
