OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2007. Despite of damage in the result of earthquake happened in Nevelsk, Sakhalin region post doesn’t stop working. Post offices № 2 and № 5 pay out regular pensions for August.

In post office №1 pensions are given within the adjacent territory secured by the Ministry of Internal Affairs as the building was seriously damaged. Another completely damaged city branch was placed in the reserved building. Currently, the government tries to find new buildings to place the post offices in them.

Post plans to begin postal exchange in the earthquaked district on 8th of August 2007. The secured post offices have necessary means to provide wide range of services, money orders among them, for people in the damaged town.

None of the postal employees were hurt in the earthquake, but 16 people lost their houses and property.

Note:
There are 8 post offices in Nevelsk district, 4 of them are in the town. As of 7th of August 2007 four regional post offices work in normal regime, however they don’t render services on delivery and exchange of letter and newspaper correspondence.
