OREANDA-NEWS. August 31, 2007. Atomstroyexport hopes to start the construction of the 3rd and 4th units of Tianwan NPP in the second half of 2008, said the head of the company Sergey Shmatko, reported the press-centre of  Atomstroyexport.

“I don’t think that our ambitious plans contradict the interests of the Chinese side. We are planning to start the construction as early as the second half of 2008,” he said on Thursday.

“We are already discussing the preliminary technical project. We have already coordinated certain proposals with the Chinese side and are now waiting for their evaluation of our work at the first two units. After that we will be able to start specific talks on the next two units. I think that this will happen this year,” Shmatko said.

To remind, Atomstroyexport has built two 1000 MW units at Tianwan NPP under a contract signed on Dec 25 1997. The first unit was commissioned in June 2007, the second in Aug 16 2007. The tender for the construction of the 3rd and 4th units will be announced after the full launch of the first two ones.

Tianwan NPP is the biggest NPP project in China.

Atomstroyexport is one of the biggest NPP constructors in the world. Presently, it is simultaneously building seven units in China, India, Iran and Bulgaria.
