OREANDA-NEWS. September 7, 2007. Chuvash Republic President Nikolai Fyodorov took part in the ceremony of opening the teaching facilities of Technical School No 22 in the town of Kanash, the facilities having been modernized using Transneft's efforts.

"Today we are opening an educational establishment that is totally new both for the educational system of Chuvashia and for Russia at large", said Nikolai Fyodorov in his opening address, emphasizing that it would be used to train highly skilled workforce in fields that are in great demand on the labour market in the oil and gas sector. The technical school will be attended by trainees from 17 regions in Russia.

The decision to modernize the school was made at the meeting of the Republic's head, Nikolai Fyodorov, with OAO AK Transneft's president, Simon Vainshtock, which took place as part of a Budapest visit by an official Russian delegation headed by Russia's President Vladimir Putin.
The opening ceremony was also addressed by OAO AK Transneft's vice president Igor Solyarsky, who commented that that was a fourth educational establishment in Russia to be modernized using the company's efforts. "Its graduates will work all over the country, and with this source of manpower set up in Kanash Chuvashia will be twinned to many regions in Russia", Igor Solyarsky emphasized.

The technical school will have 322 trainees (200 for 8 AK Transneft's subsidiaries, 122 for the agricultural sector of the republic).

The technical school facilities have been totally modernized this year, with workshops and laboratories set up and outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment for 7 new professions, all classrooms fully computerized, and the dormitory renovated. The modernization effort cost nearly 400 mln roubles; OAO Severo-Zapadnye Magistralnye Nefteprovody provided, free of charge, RUB 3.6 mln worth of processing equipment for the academic activities. Thanks to the financial support by the company, 17 teachers underwent specialist training at the Tyumen Advanced Vocational Training Centre, and 1.87 mln roubles was made available for employee bonuses.
