OREANDA-NEWS. September 11, 2007. Novosibirsk engineering company SibCOTES (member of Holding E4 Group) presented the results of its work for Zheleznogorskaya CHP plant construction (Krasnoyarsky Region). The presentation took place in Krasnoyarsk. Each Contractor reported on the results of their work.

The CHP plant is constructed within the framework of intergovernmental agreement between the Russian Ministry of Nuclear Power and the U.S. Department of Energy. According to Mr. Taylor, ZPPEP Project Manager from Raytheon, all preliminary and design works are completed, and at the moment the supply of equipment is in full swing. SibCOTES designs the fuel handling system and the steam boiler plant for Zheleznogorsk within the framework of Plutonium Production Elimination Project at reactor ADE-2 and construction of substitute sources.

According to Alexander Uzeev, Project Manager from SibCOTES, the company started design and engineering for fuel handling system and steam boiler plant in September, 2005. Several technical solutions were developed and approved, which made fuel handling production scheme less complicated, improved performance, reliability and fire safety, reduced adverse environmental impact and cut capital investments for the construction.

The fuel supply is now more reliable, since the number of conveyers and places of fuel transfer has become less. In addition, SibCOTES’ specialists decided to change the configuration of coal storage in order to prevent coal spontaneous ignition and make its operation more convenient. Specialists from SibCOTES decided to use wider belt conveyers so that to reduce downtime for open box cars during fuel unloading and to provide 100% reservation of conveyer lines.

When developing the working documentation for the steam boiler plant at Zheleznogorskaya CHP the Feasibility Study was carefully analyzed, after which a number of engineering solutions for the process flow scheme of steam boiler plant were approved. It made it possible to improve the reliability and performance and cut capital investments for the construction.

At present, based on the working documentation produced by SibCOTES, active construction-and-assembling operations for the boiler house are in progress. The outline of stage I is completed, boiler assembly and erection operations have started.
