OREANDA-NEWS. September 28, 2007. Heavy fuel oil was spilled at the berth No3 of Baltiysky Zavod OJSC (St. Petersburg). The accident occurred at about 18.00 Moscow time, press release of ECO Phoenix Holding reads. The berth is used by ECO Phoenix Holding for transshipment of oil products under lease agreement.

According to preliminary information, the spill was caused by collapse of fuel hose in the course of pumping transfer of fuel at non-selfpropelled barge SNG moored at the berth. The volume of spilt fuel is being clarified.

The spill was localized the same day by emergency rescue teams of ECO Phoenix Holding OJSC and Marine Ecology LLC by 21.00 Moscow time. By now, most fuel has been collected.

ECO Phoenix Holding has started internal investigation of the accident cause. Liability of ECO Phoenix Holding for pollution and damage to third persons is insured by Garant company.
