Belarus welcomes Lithuanian participation in the country’s investment projects, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergey Sidorsky stated at the opening ceremony of the 5th Belarusian national exhibition BelarusEXPO-2007 in Vilnius, reported the Official website www.government.by.

He has noted that today about 300 companies with Lithuanian participation in the statutory capital operate in Belarus and about the same number of companies with Belarusian participation in the statutory capital operate in Lithonia. Belarus and Lithuania have been actively setting up joint ventures.

In 2006, Lithuania invested $23,34 million in Belarus (of them $5,35 million were direct investments). In the last five years Lithuanian investments in Belarus totaled $69,8 million. Belarus invested about $20 million in statutory capital of companies operating in Lithuania.

Sergey Sidorsky believes that Belarus and Lithuania have great prospects in the transport and energy spheres. He is going to discuss these issues in detail during a meeting with Lithuanian Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas and Lithuanian businessmen.
