OREANDA-NEWS. On October 04, 2007 President of Russia Vladimir Putin has submitted a bill “On “Rosatom” State Corporation for Nuclear Energy” to State Duma, reported the press-centre of Minatom.

The bill has been sent to Speaker of State Duma Boris Gryzlov for consideration.

The text of the bill has not been published yet.

The concept of state nuclear energy corporation was first mentioned by President Putin in his last address to the Federal Assembly. Putin suggested setting up a special state corporation for uniting the civil and military sectors of the nuclear industry. The corporation will replace the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy. It is supposed to foster Russia’s interests in the field of defense.

The chairman of the State Duma Sub-Committee on Nuclear Energy Viktor Opekunov says that the bill will be considered on Oct 11.
