OREANDA-NEWS. In September, Ukraine's steelworks decreased rolled steel output by 1.6% m/m to 3.109mnt, crude steel output fell by 2.95% m/m to 3.509mnt while pig iron output decreased by 3.7% m/m 2.922mnt.

Still, in the opinion of Millennium Capital experts, Ukraine's steel sector shows a cumulative growth in rolled steel output by 5.4% y/y over 9M2007, with crude steel and pig iron production increasing by 5.3% y/y and 8.9% y/y, respectively. Among large and mid-size plants, Azovstal and Alchevsk Steelworks reported the highest growth with rolled output growth by 6.3% y/y and 7% y/y, respectively. The lowest figures are reported by Mariupol Illich Steelworks with a decline of 0.7% y/y in crude steel production.
