OREANDA-NEWS. October 5, 2007. Russian Railways president Vladimir Yakunin met a Japanese parliamentary delegation headed by Syoto Nakagawa from the House of Representatives in Moscow.

The two sides discussed cooperation between Japan and Russia in rail transport.

Bilateral trade has increased in recent years, as a result of which the volume of container traffic between the two countries has increased by 50%.

Cooperation between Russian Railways and Japanese companies could include express rail links in Russia, freight transport to Russia and on to Europe via Russia, as well as the construction of new rail lines to ship minerals within Russia.
