OREANDA-NEWS. October 5, 2007. The Chinese side is interested in the work of Geological Institute of Kola Science Center of Russian Academy of Science, Apatity, Murmansk region. For many years this institute has studied the problem of burial and treatment of radioactive waste, particularly, its underground storage.

East China institute of Technology also deals with the problem of radioactive waste burial and the Chinese guests came to exchange experience and to establish cooperation in the sphere. After concluding a relevant cooperation agreement, they visited Kola NPP to familiarize themselves with the liquid radioactive waste treatment technologies applied at the plant.

The Chinese guests inspected the plant’s simulator, machine hall, unit control board, information center and met with the local management. They liked the liquid radioactive waste treatment technologies used at the plant. One of the guests said that the experience of Kola NPP in the sphere might be used worldwide.
