OREANDA-NEWS. October 5, 2007. In January-September 2007, throughput of Vanino Commercial Seaport OJSC increased by 3.9%, year-on-year, to 4.883.4 million tonnes, the company informs. In the reported period export fell by 4.7% to 2.412.0 million tonnes. Export transshipment of coal amounted to 443,500 tonnes (+24.8%), timber – 1.426.7 million tonnes(-1,3%).

Transshipment of import cargo grew by 50.8% to 825,000 tonnes including 796,700 tonnes of alumina (+50.8%). Transshipment of coastal trade cargo totaled 282,400 tonnes (+6%). The increase should be attributed mainly to transshipment of containerized cargo, machines and equipment. In January-August, 2007, Vanino-Kholmsk ferry crossing transported 1.180 million tonnes of cargo (+1.2%, year-on-year). In the 9-month period the port handled 1,306 vessels (including 592 ferries) and 54,700 wagons (+ 3.6%).

Vanino Commercial Seaport OJSC is the largest stevedoring company of Khabarovsk region. It provides handling and forwarding services. Cargo is delivered via Vanino to the north-eastern regions of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of APR. The ports berth line is some 2.5 kilometers.
