OREANDA-NEWS. October 8, 2007. The Federal Agency for Air Transport Licensing Commission has licensed Transaero to serve scheduled flights on Moscow – New York and Moscow – Los Angeles routes. The airline plans to launch service on the routes in 2008.

Transaero is the second largest Russian airline serving international routes. In the recent years it has been focusing on the sustainable development of the network of routes connecting Russia with North America. In 2005 Transaero launched service on Moscow – Montreal route. In 2006 it added Moscow – Toronto route to its network. It is also the only Russian airline serving scheduled direct flights from Russia to the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana).

Transaero also plans to start serving Moscow – Miami route after launching service between Moscow, New York and Los Angeles.

The airline already has experience in serving US market. In 1996-1998 its scheduled flights connected Moscow and Los Angeles. In 1998 Transaero for the first time served cross-polar route (Moscow – Krasnoyarsk – Toronto – New York).

According to Transaero experts the airline’s high service standards, wide route network, extensive experience in the field of serving intercontinental routes will enable it to launch the service on new routes successfully and will attract both business and leisure travelers.
