OREANDA-NEWS. October 17, 2007. A delegation of mayors of several Southern Czechia towns and villages (Ceske Budejovice, Strakonice, Tэn nad Vltavou etc.) visited JSC TVEL. They met the Corporation’s management, were shown to Mashinostroitelny Zavod in Elektrostal, had a working meeting with MSZ’s Director Oleg Kryukov and City Mayor Andrey Sukhanov and visited community utilities which are supported by JSC MSZ. The Czech guests showed a special interest in characteristics of TVSA-T fuel which is to be supplied to Temelin nuclear power plant (the plant is located near the towns and villages the head). Vice Presidents of JSC TVEL Vasili Konstantinov and Konstantin Sokolov assured the officials that the use of the Russian fuel would help to solve technical problems arising at the plant. Karel Hбjek, the mayor of Tэn nad Vltavou said in response that “TVEL’s winning tender for the fuel supply in the situation where pro-American attitudes are strong in Czechia, gives grounds for hope that the Russian fuel is in fact better than the American one.”

The visit of mayors has become one of a series of events aimed at strengthening relations between the fuel consuming countries and informing foreign public on advantages of the Russian nuclear technologies.

TVEL Corporation has cooperated with the Czech Republic in supplying nuclear fuel to a number of nuclear facilities in the country fruitfully and for many years. Russia-made fuel is supplied to Dukovany nuclear power plant, Nuclear Research Institute REZ and Czech Technical University in Prague. The won international tender will result in JSC TVEL’s supplying fuel to both Temelin reactors commencing 2009. Thus, the partnership of Russian nuclear workers and Czechia continues broadening.
