OREANDA-NEWS. The German experts have come to discuss the problems related to the implementation of the contract for providing consultancy on how to optimize the maintenance of specific WIS component. The group of AREVA experts is led by the director of the project Lutz Wolfgang Langer, the group of Volgodonsk specialists - by the deputy chief engineer for repair Ivan Malakhov, reported the press-centre of Rosenergoatom.

During their previous visit to Volgodonsk NPP in Aug 2007 the AREVA experts inspected the settings and configuration of the server of the local WIS system; examined the reinforcement testing systems; made recommendations on how to improve their service; created and installed a new reinforcement database and downloaded it into the plant’s server; explained how to ensure safe access to the software from each computerized workplace.

The contract between AREVA and Volgodonsk NPP is aimed at optimizing maintenance campaigns at the plant.

With the development of its energy market, Germany designed a new maintenance system so as to enhance the safety and the efficiency of its power facilities. Due to the system maintenance campaigns at German power plants are carried out very quickly and effectively. As a result, German power plants are very safe and efficient.

WIS is a very good assistant. It helps you to see what is going on with your equipment at any moment of its operation. The information is stored and is always available irrespective of who is the operator.

Note
AREVA (Germany) is Rosenegoatom’s old partner. Today, that company is one of the strongest actors on the nuclear energy market. It has enterprises in 40 countries and employs a total of 60,000 people.

Volgodonsk NPP is the first Rosenergoatom NPP to have launched WIS system (German abbreviation for “knowledge integration for maintenance services”). It was a pilot project of Rosenergoatom and Framatom ANP. The system has been designed by AREVA experts on the basis of the technologies and know-how of Framatom ANP.
