OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2007. A technical support mission of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) visited Volgodonsk Nuclear Power Plant, reported the press-centre of Rosenergoatom.

The topic of the visit was provision of engineering and technical support.

The mission consisted of experts from the Czech Republic, Hungary and Ukraine and was led by the advisor of the WANO Moscow Center Valery Blagoyev Velichkov (Bulgaria).

The chief engineer of Volgodonsk NPP Andrey Salnikov welcomed the guests. He pointed out that such meetings were not only pleasant but also very useful. “We are presently building our 2nd unit and need technical support,” Salnikov said.

He said that Volgodonsk NPP is always ready to adopt the best experience and to develop its mutually beneficial partnership with foreign colleagues. One example is the close partnership of Volgodonsk NPP with Temelin NPP (the Czech Republic), Flammanville NPP (France) and Khmelnitsky NPP (Ukraine).

The heads of the departments of Volgodonsk NPP took a very active part in the meetings.

As a result of the mission, the experts made a number of recommendations. Velichkov pointed out that they had no remarks but just proposals as Volgodonsk NPP is one of the best nuclear power plants in the world in terms of use of best experience.
