OREANDA-NEWS. November 16, 2007. OAO "Second Generation Company of the Wholesale Electricity Market" (WGC-2) has started the construction of Power Units No. 10 and 11 at the Troitskaya TPP.

The Troitskaya TPP is located in the Chelyabinsk region, one of the most rapidly developing regions of Russia. Over the past few years, the region's energy system has seen a rapid growth in energy consumption, In 2006, the electricity use grew 7 percent, while in the first 10 months of 2007, the energy use in the region grew more than 3% compared to the same period last year even despite the abnormally warm winter.

The two new coal combustion units of 660 MW each at the Troitskaya TPP will improve reliability of the energy system of the Chelyabinsk region and the IES of Urals. The total amount of funds to be spent on this project is expected to make RUB54 billion. Unit 10 and Unit 11 are expected to go on line in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
