OREANDA-NEWS. November 21, 2007. The Coordinating Committee for Cooperation between Rosenergoatom Concern (Russia) and Iberdrola (Spain) met in Madrid on Nov. 15-16 2007, the Rosenergoatom Concern press-service reports.

The Russian delegation was led by the deputy technical director of Rosenergoatom Nikolay Davidenko.

The sides considered the results of their joint work in 2007 and pointed out the mutual benefit of their cooperation. Particularly, this year Rosenergoatom and Iberdrola have exchanged a number of visits and seminars. Iberdrola has proposed a complex project for enhancing the safety and efficiency of unit 5 of Novovoronezh NPP.

The Committee stressed Iberdrola's active participation in the TASIC projects in Russia, first of all at Kola and Novovoronezh NPPs.

The sides have drafted a program of cooperation in 2008. In particular, they are going to conduct conferences and exchange information on nuclear energy problems of mutual concern in the fields of materials science, design of new types of fuel, modernization and capacity enhancement, economics and management.

The agreement for cooperation between Iberdrola and Rosenergoatom was signed in June 2005.
