OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2007. In 2008, the port of Liepaja (Latvia) plans to increase its throughput by 25%, year-on-year, to 5 million tonnes, Ivo Kolinysh, head of the port’s marketing and investment department.

The increase is to be driven by reconstruction of the port’s railways, which will enable the port to handle up to 8 million tonnes per year. This year, the port is likely to handle some 4 million tonnes of cargo.
