OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2007. Promsvyazbank has appointed Joel Bismuth to the position of a Director – Head of Risk Management Department, the company's press service reported. His main role will consist in upgrading the bank’s risk management function up to a full compliance with Basel II guidelines.

Mr. Bismuth joined Promsvyazbank in April 2007 as Deputy CFO.

From 2006 until April 2007 Mr. Bismuth worked with IFC (World Bank Group) as Senior Advisor for investments in Russian and other CIS banks.

In 2005-2006 Mr. Bismuth worked as Vice-President – Senior Analyst in charge of financial institutions’ ratings in Russia and the CIS with Moody’s Investors Service, an international rating agency.

Before then, Mr. Bismuth worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers, as Experts’ Team Leader within the framework of a project named "Banking Supervision and Reporting" for the Central Bank of Russia.

Joel Bismuth has 25 years of banking experience and is a recognized expert in the field of risk management. He started his career in 1982 in the French bank BNP where he worked for 10 years, mainly in the areas of internal audit and risk management. In the 1990’s he held top management positions in Russian banks where he was in charge of credit and financial management functions. In 1999-2000 Mr. Bismuth worked in London, where he was responsible for organizing risk committees and implementing risk software solutions among leading European banks. He also advised several Central banks in this area.

Joel Bismuth holds a Master degree in Financial and Derivative Markets (Markets’ Technical Institute, Paris) as well as a Banking MBA (Banking Technical Institute, Paris). He was born in Marseilles on October 1st, 1960.
