OREANDA-NEWS. November 29, 2007. Azerbaijani Government has to postpone bilateral negotiations with World Trade Organization (WTO) members on membership terms in WTO, which were planned for October-November.

Azerbaijani Government informed Fineko/abc.az that the postponement is connected with preparation of documents for multilateral negotiations.

“Necessary package will be submitted to WTO during 10 days. As a result, we will be able to hold bilateral negotiations only during 5th round of multilateral negotiations to be held in Geneva,” the Government reported.

The 5th round is possible not earlier than February 2008 that factually makes impossible to complete negotiations on membership terms till the end of 2009. Interest in bilateral negotiations with Azerbaijan was expressed by USA, Japan, Canada, China, European Union (EU). Such negotiations have been completed only with Moldova, Georgia, and Oman. Even final protocol was concluded with Turkey.
