OREANDA-NEWS. December 26, 2007. Logging and Timber Rafting Department (Ilim Group) completed the second compliance audit of its forest management system, in accordance with the principles and requirements of Forest Stewardship Council, the press service of the Ilim Group reported.

The audit was carried out by representatives of German GFA and Russian EvroPartner. During the examination, the auditors visited the mills that work on the forest allotments leased by Logging and Timber Rafting Department. During their work, the auditors relied on the standards based on the principles and benchmarks developed by Forest Stewardship Council. The auditors inspected the mills’ documents, interviewed the staff, and analysed the information collected on the visits to the departments, services and logging sites.

During the final meeting with Vladimir Anikeev, General Director of Logging and Timber Rafting Department, the auditors listed the preliminary results and gave necessary recommendations. The experts rated highly the existing forest management system and appreciated the amount of work that the department’s experts performed to draw up the list of high environmental value. The final results of the audit will be prepared by the end of the current year.

FSC carries out is control audits every year. In February 2011, Logging and Timber Rafting Department is to undergo recertification.
