OREANDA-NEWS. December 27, 2007. Izhorskiye Zavody, a part of OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ;LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY), informed that Tyan Erlun, Consul General of People’s Republic of China in St. Petersburg, and Gyan Khaitao, Consul of People’s Republic of China for Trade and Economic Issues in St. Petersburg, had visited its facilities. A representative of Atomstroiexport also attended the meeting. The visit was held in line with preparations for the construction of the third and fourth power units of the second line at the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

The Chinese visitors inspected the welding and assembly facilities, discussed issues relating to the production of equipment for the nuclear power sector, and expressed their assurances of further fruitful cooperation. Izhorskiye Zavody has supplied most part of equipment for the first line of the first and second power units of Tianwan NPP. Tianwan NPP is the biggest project of Chinese-Russian economic cooperation and the newest nuclear power plant in China.

A memorandum reflecting Russia's and China's intentions to expand and strengthen cooperation aimed at construction of the second line of Tianwan NPP on basis of safe operations of the first line of the NPP has been signed in November 2006.
