OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2007. Joint Stock Company Pasazieru vilciens (PV) informs that from 1 September 2008 it is planned to re-open the train route Riga-Ventspils for passenger transportations, reported the press-centre of SJSC Latvijas dzelzcels.

The route from Riga to Ventspils will be re-opened in conformity with government order.

In this route there will be running an express train that will stop at Sloka, Tukums-1, Kandava, Sabile, Stende and Ugale stations.

There will be running trains with enhanced comfort level and with numbered seats, as it is in the route Riga-Liepaja and Riga-Rezekne. TV sets and coffee machines will be provided in the couches for passenger convenience. It will take approx. 2 hours and 45 minutes to go by modernized train from Riga to Ventspils. Passenger transportations by rail from Riga to Ventspils were closed in 2001.
