OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2008. The top executives of National Companies Uzbekneftegas, KazMunayGas, KazTransGas, and Gazprom met in Tashkent (the Republic of Uzbekistan) on December 28, 2007, the KazTransGas press service reported. During the meeting, the counterparties finalized negotiations regarding the supply of natural gas to the southern regions of Kazakhstan in 2008. Uzbekistan will supply the adequate volume of gas to meet in full the increased demand in natural gas of both, residential and industrial clients in the South-Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Almaty regions and Almaty city. In respond to the requirement of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the price of gas delivered from Uzbekistan starting from January, 1st, 2008, will remain unchanged.Along with that, it’s also provided that the total needs of Kazakhstan in imported natural gas in 2008 will be covered in full as well. Earlier agreements reached with Gazprom secure the supply of 912 mmcm of Russian gas to Kostanay region and 650 mmcm of natural gas to the West-Kazakhstan region. The price of the natural gas sold in those regions will also remain on the year 2007 level.
