OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2008. OMZ-Special Steels (St.Petersburg), a part of OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY), announced on January 11 its receiving of an Approval Certificate from one of the leading international classification organizations, Lloyd's Register of Shipping, for the production of carbon, carbon-manganiferous and low-alloyed steel forgings, for steel smelting, and for production of screw shafts from martensitic stainless steel.

The certification for forgings specifies a maximum weight of 120 tons, and for the production of screw shafts a maximum weight of 50 tons. The certificates are valid until 26 June, 2010. Lloyd's Register of Shipping is a world-renowned classification organization enforcing high quality standards in the shipbuilding industry. It is a member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).

The certificates received by OMZ Special Steels confirm the high quality of OMZ Special Steels products developed for the shipbuilding industry. They allow the company to collaborate successfully with domestic and international shipbuilding companies. OMZ Special Steels' products have been also certified by a number of other classification organizations including the Russian Maritime Navigation Register (RMNR), Det Norske Veritas (DNV, Norway), Germanischer Lloyd (GL, Germany), Bureau Veritas (BV, France), the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS, USA), Registro Italiano Navale (RINA, Italy), and Russian River Register (RRR).
