OREANDA-NEWS. January 14, 2007. In 2007, the port of Archangelsk handled 5.243.9 million tonnes of cargo (-0.6%, year-on-year). In the reported period, the port’s stevedoring companies accepted 457,500 tonnes of cargo (+10.5%, year-on-year) including 287,100 tonnes ofof import cargo (+51.3%), 170,400 tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-24%). Import included 57,600 tonnes of containerized cargo (+23.8%). Transshipment of machines and equipment totaled 1,690 tonnes (-2.7%). Incoming coastal trade cargo included 149,800 tonnes of general cargo (-12.8%), 8,850 tonnes of oil products (-0.8%, year-on-year).

In 2007, the port of Archangelsk dispatched 4.786.4 million tonnes of cargo (-0.6%) including 1.555.5  million tonnes of export cargo (+16.4%), 3.230.8 million tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-8.4%). Export included 60,900 tonnes of containerized cargo (+39.2%), 576,800 tonnes of timber (-10.2%), 98,800 tonnes of cellulose (-20.5%), 14,800 tonnes of cardboard and paper (-40%). Dispatched coastal trade cargo comprised 256,020 tonnes of oil and oil products, 368,400 tonnes of other general cargo (+36.3%, year-on-year), 76,900 tonnes of containerize cargo.

The port of Archangelsk is the largest seaport in the Northern region of Russia. Seaport of Archangelsk accepts vessels with a draft of up to 9.2 meters, length of up to 175 meters, breadth of up to 30 meters. The port comprises 151 berths with a total length of 17,548 meters, including 31 berths of timber industry companies, 22 berths of sea trade port, 6 berths of the river port, 3 berths of Rosneft-Archangelsknefteproduct OJSC engaged in export of oil and oil products, 2 berths of the fishing port and 87 minor berths of other companies. Archangelsk port is crossed by cargo transit lines from Europe to the states of the Far, Middle and Near East.
