OREANDA-NEWS. January 14, 2007. In 2007, throughput of Vostochny Port OJSC grew by 2%, year-on-year, to 16.346 million tonnes of cargo, the port’s press center reports. Specialized Coal Complex of the port handled 15.262.2 million tonnes of coal (+2%, year-on-year). Throughput of Universal Handling Complex grew by 3%, year-on-year, to 1.83.8 million tonnes of different cargo. The core of the port’s throughput is export coal. In 2007, its share in total throughput of the port totaled 95.5%. In the reported period the port handled 15.610.7 million tonnes of export coal (+2%, year-on-year). Transshipment of coastal trade coal totaled 367,000 tonnes (+15%, year-on-year).

According to the report, large-scale modernization of Coal Complex is likely to cause the decrease of the port’s throughput to 13.6 million tonnes of coal at PPK-3 and to 1.57 million tonnes of different cargo at PPK-1. Despite the decrease in throughput the port’s load will still exceed its design capacity.

Company consists of Specialized Coal and Universal Handling Terminals (PPK-1). It specializes in handling of general and such bulk cargoes as clinker, coal, coke, iron ore concentrate, timber and others. PPK-1 can work with metal, cellulose, argil and also with chemical, long-length and heavily-loaded cargoes.
