OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2007. Atomstroyexport CJSC and the National Energy Company of Bulgaria (NEC) signed a contract for the construction of Belene Nuclear Power Plant. On behalf of Atomstroyexport CJSC, the contract was signed by the president of ASE Sergey Shmatko, on behalf of the NEC – by the company’s CEO Lubomir Belkov and the executive officer Mardik Papazyan. The contract was signed in the presence of the presidents of Russia and Bulgaria Vladimir Putin and Georgi Parvanov.

The contract specifies the key terms of the construction of Belene NPP and the key obligations of the parties. Atomstroyexport has committed itself to build the plant, to provide engineering services and to supply necessary equipment.

The contract says that the project costs 3,997,260,000 EUR for two 1000 MW reactors. ASE has promised to integrate all the available facilities of Belene in the project.

The equipment that is not subject to further use, according to the decision of the evaluation committee, is to be redeemed by ASE.
