OREANDA-NEWS. January 23, 2008. In 2007, Vladivostok Container Terminal LLC increased its throughput by 36%, year-on-year, to 199,651 TEU, the company’s press center reports. The volume of export cargo handled by the terminal grew by 53%, year-on-year, to 79,508 TEU, import - up 47% to 72,264 TEU. In the reported period VCT handled 47,879 TEU of coastal trade cargo against 46,154 TEU in 2006 (+4 %).  In December 2007, the terminal handled 20,790 TEU (+51%, year-on-year) including 8,272 TEU of export cargo (+65%), 5,074 TEU of coastal trade cargo (+22%), 7,444 TEU of import cargo (+60%). In December, loaded/empty containers ratio was 54.08% against 45.92% respectively.

According to Valeri Mestulov, Director General of VCT LLC, the result should be attributed to optimization of production processes aimed at improvement of container handling and at expansion of the terminal’s capacity.
