OREANDA-NEWS.  January 30, 2008. Balakhani-Sabunu-Ramana field being developed by Balakhanineft NGDU (oil & gas producer division) still contains sufficient remaining recoverable reserves.

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) informed that Balakhanineft NGDU has produced 335 million tons of oil from 27 productive strata of the field.

“Rare non-congealable types of lubricants are made from Balakhani oil. Under geologists’ estimates, the field still has enough oil reserves.

Last year the NGDU delivered 216,122 tons of oil to the government, including 5,300 tons above the forecast,” SOCAR informed.

Balakhanineft NGDU runs the largest stock of wells on Azneft. There are 1,150 wells, age of which exceeded 100 years. For constant oil production it is demanded to maintain wells in working condition and carry out their high-quality repairs.

In 2007 the NGDU conducted 12,140 underground and 230 capital repairs.

24 wells were transferred from stock of idle wells stock to the stock of operating ones. These wells were produced 2,270 tons of oil. Last year it was conducted 223 geological surveys, following it was produced 18,700 tons of additional oil,” SOCAR said.

Geologists defined hundreds of drilling sites at the field. In 2007 it was commissioned 13 new wells with daily debit of 5 or 6 tons and depth up to 1 200 m.

“This year we are planning to drill at least 10 fresh wells. In 2008 Balakhanineft is planning to deliver 215,480 tons of oil to the government. Daily target has been implementing since January 1,” SOCAR added.
