OREANDA-NEWS. On 31 January the Trade Union of Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant met to elect new board and chairman. 159 of 165 members of the union took part in the voting. A group of representatives of the Central Committee of Trade Unions observed the voting.

There were 35 candidates for the board. Each candidacy was put to open voting. 15 candidates collecting more than 80 votes were elected into the board. Among them were both experienced activities and newcomers wishing to take an active part in the work of the trade union.

There were two candidates for the chairman of the trade union: the acting chairman V.Karpov and the engineer of the Chemical Department Irina Lisevtseva. The delegates declined the candidacy of Karpov and voted for Lisevtseva.

While addressing the delegates Lisevtseva said that she was ready to assert the interests of the plant’s personnel at all levels and expressed hope for fruitful cooperation with the plant’s administration. “Our work should be based on cooperation rather than confrontation,” Lisevtseva said.
