OREANDA-NEWS. February 5, 2008. In January 2008 Belarusian company Gomselmash exported $15.5 million worth of agricultural machines and spare parts to Russia and Ukraine, roughly six times the amount the company exported in January 2007. The company mainly exported grain harvesters of various modifications, director of the Gomselmash marketing centre Vladimir Frolov told BelTA.

As a rule, the market of complicated agricultural machinery is calm at the beginning of a year. At this time government resources to be allocated for agriculture support are being specified and the organisation of the sowing campaign is dealt with. This is why Gomselmash, which specialises in forage and grain harvesters, used to get the bulk of orders in March-May.

Unlike other years in 2008 the company is busy holding talks, signing contracts and agreements every day. Gomselmash has already contracted to ship at least 500 grain harvesters to Russia within a year. Ukraine is expected to get 350 grain harvesters in Q1 2008. A large number of contracts for supplying forage harvesters has been signed. All in all, in 2008 Gomselmash plans to at least double export in comparison with 2007 to a total of $200 million.

Production corporation Gomselmash is a multi-business producer of machines used to cultivate and harvest basic crops utilising contemporary agrarian technologies. Many times Gomselmash won awards at contests “Belarus Best Products” and “Belarus Best Products in the Russian Federation”. The corporation was established on the basis of Gomselmash plant in 1978. The plant was founded in 1930. At present the company employs over 17,000 people.
