OREANDA-NEWS. February 7, 2008. In January 2008, Commercial Seaport of Odessa handled 3 million tonnes (+3.5%, year-on-year) the company reports.

Transshipment of dry cargo increased by 6.1% to 1.3 million tonnes including over 1 million tonnes of general cargo (+20.9%) and 231,300 tonnes of dry bulk (+31.9%).

According to the company’s press center, transshipment of ferrous metal grew by 32.7%, grain – by 15%, containers – by 5.9%. Transshipment of raw sugar fell by 75.7%, coal – by 41.2%. In the reported period the company handled 688,000 tonnes of ferrous metal and 301,000 tonnes of containers. Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo grew by 3.5%, year-on-year, to 1.7 million tonnes. Transshipment of vegetable oils grew by 71.2%, oil products – by 35.1%, liquefied gas – by 3.9%, while oil handling fell by 10%.
Commercial Seaport of Odessa is located in the south-western part of Odessa Bay at reclaimed territory covering 109.5 hectares. The capacity of the company’s facilities enables it to handle over 14 million tonnes of dry cargo and 24 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo annually.
