OREANDA-NEWS. February 13, 2008. In January 2008, Big Port of St. Petersburg handled 4.194.7 million tonnes of cargo (+2%, year-on-year).

Transshipment of dry bulk totaled 735,200 tonnes (+16%) including 242,700 tonnes of ore (up 5.1 times), 476,500 tones of mineral fertilizers (+27%), 1,500 tonnes of coal, 29,600 tonnes of graon (-21%).

Transshipment of timber fell by 37% to 118,100 tonnes, general cargo – by 10% to 908,200 tonnes including 202,900 tonnes of ferrous metal (-24%), 98,900 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (-15%), 111,300 tonnes of scrap metal (-41%), 52,200 tonnes of packaged goods (up 2-fold), 297,200 tonnes of refrigerated cargo (-4%).

Transshipment of oil products fell by 3% to 1.2 million tonnes. Container turnover grew by 17% to 138 268 thou TEU (1.4 million tonnes). In the reported period, the port’s turnover of vessels totaled 994 units.
