OREANDA-NEWS. On February 18, 2008 during the second round of the Ukrainian - Polish talks on coordination of a draft intergovernmental agreement on local border traffic rules, the parties reached agreement on involvement of all populated localities within a 50-kilometer zone of the joint border, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

The protocol of the negotiations also sealed Ukraine's proposal on the expediency of including in the border zone the cities of Drohobych and Lviv, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported.

Poland did not agree to include those cities, referring to the European Union's 50-kilometer zone requirement, while Lviv is situated 72 kilometers off the border.

The parties also failed to reach consent on the settlement of issues involved in repayment of first aid services provided to border zone residents staying in the other country's territory.

By mutual consent, the next round of talks will take place in Warsaw soon.
