OREANDA-NEWS. On 19 February 2008 was announced, that the city authorities of Moscow plan to build modern salesrooms, logistics centres and store premises, to reconstruct the cooling systems by 2010.

“According to the program concerning the development of grocery wholesale in Moscow in 2008-2010, besides the construction of logistic centres and store premises, the new agro-industrial enterprises of Moscow are planned to be set up in the regions of Russia as joint-stock companies with a share of the [Russian] capital in the authorized capital,” a source from the city administration of Moscow said.

The source added that new wholesale premises would be built mostly at the expense of the investors. More than 6 billion roubles will be allocated from the city budget for this purpose.

“The goal of the program calculated for three years to come is to increase the food security of the capital [of Russia] by adjusting the rise of buying attitude of the urban population in accordance with the rise of food delivery. For this purpose we are to create new wholesale complexes and retailers storing food,” the employee of the Mayor’s Office specified.

It is expected that, due to this program, the growth rate of turnover of the wholesale of agricultural products will equal 4-4.5 per cent a year.
