OREANDA-NEWS. February 20, 2008. According to the decision of Murmansk region government, Murmansk Fishing Port is to be included into the special economic zone of port-type (PSEZ), B-Port reports. The competition on creation of PSEZ announced by the Ministry of Economic Development is to last till March 31, 2008. Murmansk region plans to participate. Such zones will have free customs regime and tax advantages applicable only for PSEZ residents. To become a resident the company should invest considerable sums into reconstruction of infrastructure facilities and ensure payment of customs duties.

According to preliminary calculations, socioeconomic impact is to be significant for Murmansk region. The forecasts say the investments are to be paid back by 2020. By that time the region’s gross product is to grow by 6%, employment – by 5,000 people. Investments into outer infrastructure of PSEZ form different sources will total RUR 64 billion.
