OREANDA-NEWS. February 20, 2008. The construction of port facilities valued at over RUR 20 billion is to be completed in the port of Ust-Luga by late 2008 – early 2009. The facilities will include a bunkering complex valued at RUR 2.433 billion. As of today RUR 213 million were spent for the territory development and for the development of a project statement.

Besides, the first phase of a terminal for transshipment of industrial sulfur is to be put into op in late 2008 (valued at RUR 805.500 million). The territory has already been developed and the construction of the berths and facilities started.

The issue of Ust-Luga links to the general port utilities has been solved already. As of January 1, RUR 1.269.75 billion has been spent for the project. Within the reported period it is also planned to commission a liquid bulk complex valued at RUR 6.116 billion and the first phase of the terminal for transshipment of general cargo, the complete value of which is RUR 1.538 billion.

The first and the second launch complexes of YUG-2 are to be put into operation this year. Total investment into the project is to exceed RUR 5 billion.

It should be noted that RUR 39 million is to be invested into construction of the port’s telephone conduit and the network for communication based on fiber-optical and copper lines making it possible to serve all the terminals of the port’s Northern and Southern districts having connected to Balttelekomport OJSC.

Commercial seaports f Ust-Luga is a multi-purpose port with a complex of commercial and related facilities. The port’s complex covers the territory of 810 hectares. By2025, it is to be expanded to 1,600 hectares. By 2015, the port’s annual throughput is to exceed 120 million tonnes of different cargo.
