OREANDA-NEWS. February 26, 2008. The Government of Belarus issued resolution No201 to approve the list of import-substituting products made by resident companies of the free economic zones (FEZ) and supplied to the domestic market within the period from 2008 to 2010, reported the Official website www.government.by.

Every year the Government makes the list of import-substituting which is then approved by the head of state. This year, in line with Decree No42 of January 28, 2008 which amended Decree No262 “On several issues relating to the activity of the free economic zones in the Republic of Belarus” of June 9, 2005 the goods included in the list in the first year are included into the lists of import-substituting products in the following two years.

The goods on the list can be sold in Belarus, with tax and customs preferences instituted for the FEZ remaining in place.

The list for 2008 and the next two years was compiled on the basis of the proposals of the oblast executive committees and Minsk city council. To eliminate unfair competition between FEX resident companies and other commodity producers of the country, an emphasis was made on the goods which are not manufactured in other places of Belarus.

Supplying domestic market with import-substituting products will help reduce imports, save hard currency assets of domestic producers and encourage competitive industrial production in the country.
