OREANDA-NEWS. On 27 February 2008 was announced, that in 2007 technical specialists of "UTK" PJSC installed 115 thousand Internet broadband access ports, including those providing Triple Play functions (voice, data and video transmission), which allowed to introduce IP-TV service in five out of ten branches of the Company. To maintain and strengthen UTK’s market positions in 2008, it is necessary to expand broadband access network by 200 thousand ports to 484 thousand ports, to put 156.5 thousand subscriber lines into service and to bring the network digitization rate to 71.58%.

Last year "UTK" PJSC updated IPMPLS transportation network on the basis of 10Гb/s technology in the Krasnodar, Northern Ossetia, Astrakhan and Kabardino-Balkaria branches. In 2008 it is planned to upgrade data transmission networks in the Volgograd and Stavropol branches so they can meet growing QoS requirements of multi-service traffic.

"2007 can be considered the first year of switching to NGN networks. We have chosen the concept of networks structure and made first steps towards its realization. Formation of new generation networks is driven by growing demand for broadband access services", - Deputy Director General – Technical director of "UTK" PJSC Evgeny Rzhevsky noted.

In 2007 the Company  increased the digitization rate of its telephone network putting over 184 thousand lines of digital automatic telephone exchanges into operation, 111.8 thousand of which were to replace obsolete equipment. Construction of data transmission corporate network integrating 9 out of 10 Company’s branches has been almost completed. In 2008 "UTK" PJSC plans to connect the Kalmykia branch to the corporate data network and to improve safety and reliability of its operation. The corporate network will ensure functioning of a uniform billing system, intelligent network, Internet traffic transit, various kinds of in-house information. Protection system against DDOS-attacks is being developed.

In 2008 "Southern Telecommunications Company" PJSC will continue to implement various national projects such as switching communication networks to single emergency service number "112", participation in formation of the infrastructure of the state system of issue, registration and  control of passport and visa documents of new generation, connection of post offices and medical institutions to the Internet.
