OREANDA-NEWS. February 27, 2008. To provide stable and rhythmical work of any division of the Works well-timed delivery of raw material, fuel, equipment and other loads is very important. Today we are going to tell you about our transport workers once again.

According to the opinion of the Department of Railway Transportation Chief Engineer, Sergey Victorovich Sakun, one of the main achievements of last year was commissioning of a heating complex in the locomotive and wagon depot, about which we have written several times. At last an autonomous heating system, consisting of 46 infra-red radiating units, was installed. At present during the winter season normal temperature has been maintained in the depot. New technologies have been introduced in due cause. The previous system was not able to provide heat for the transport workers.

The main task of the railway workers is to provide continuous transportation and this can be maintained only in case of providing safety train operation. The first task has been successfully accomplished by the collective of the Department of Railway Transportion.

Last year 46541.1 thousand tons of loads were transported by the railway, which is 1.2% more than in 2006. At first sight, the % is not so big but it means 535 thousand tons of different loads. How many trains is that? The railway workers were also able to save deficient diesel fuel. It was possible to reduce its consumption by 1.3%, which amounts to 73 tons.

The number and condition of locomotives and wagons are substantial factors providing transportation. That is why the workers of the Department of Railway Transportation keep them in good conditions.

Last year 11 capital repairs of locomotives were fulfilled, plus 614 running repairs and technical servicing. 188 wagons have undergone plant repair and 213 — depot repair. In 2007 12.1km of tracks have been repaired. Apart from that 9km of tracks underwent medium repair and above 15km — lifting repair. Track switches are also strictly controlled. During the year 186 repairs were carried out, 65 of them were capital repairs.

As the saying goes, not a minute’s peace. Irrespective of what type of repair is carried out, it is still necessary to renew the equipment and do capital repair of the tracks. There is no other alternative.
