OREANDA-NEWS. February 29, 2008. During his visit to AECC the assistant to the plenipotentiary representative of the President of Russia to Siberian Federal District Oleg Budargin conveyed the letter to the director general of the company Viktor Shopen. Budargin was accompanied by the chief federal inspector for Irkutsk region Pyotr Ogorodnikov.

“I am convinced that you have deserved this award. In the last half a century you have proved that you are a professional and innovative company and can implement any task and project. You are internationally known as a reliable partner having unique technologies and radiation and ecological safety systems.”

As the advisor of the plenipotentiary representatives of the President to Siberian Federal District, Budargin told the director and the staff of AECC about the course of the prospective projects that are being carried out in Siberia, particularly, about the construction of ore mining and processing combines in Trans-Baikal region, the development of 20 metal deposits in Buratia, the building of new facilities in Tuva and the intensive development of Lower Angara region. “In the coming five years we have to spent 500bbln RUR under state-private partnership projects. We are planning to build power plants with a total capacity of 3,000 MW. Siberia needs electricity, needs innovative and effective approaches to its production. That’s why the Government has instructed us all to redouble the power production by 2015. In this light, we certainly need your capacities.”

The President of Russia signed the letter in Dec 2007. While presenting the award Bugargin thanked the staff of AECC for their diligence and professionalism and wished them new achievements.

The director general of AECC Viktor Shopen thanked the President for the award: “We are firmly resolved to carry out our part of the federal target program for the development of the nuclear industry of Russia in 2008–2015. We will continue to work hard for the benefit of our city, region and country.”
