OREANDA-NEWS. March 5, 2008. A delegation of the Latvian businessmen will pay a visit to Belarus on March 10-13.

The delegation will include representatives of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and also ten companies the activity of which is connected with transport, logistics, timber industry, organization of sports and entertaining events.

The Latvian businessmen are expected to pay visits to Minsk and Gomel. They will have talks with leadership of some Belarusian companies and the contact-cooperation exchange. “The main goal of the visit is to find business partners in Belarus, to discuss possible cooperation projects including the setting up of the joint ventures,” Latvian diplomats noted.

The visit has been organized by the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the auspices of the Latvian Embassy in this country and the Minsk and Gomel branches of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

According to the Belarusian Ministry of Statistics and Analysis, in 2007 the trade between Belarus and Latvia hit $1 billion 123 million, or two times up as against 2006. The Belarusian exports to Latvia doubled to make up $995, 8 million.

Over the last five years, the Latvian investments in the Belarusian economy have reached $148, 4 million, or 20 times up as against 2002.
