OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2008. JSC KMAruda Integrated Plant, Gubkin city, Belgorod Region. In March, 2008 the first important results were achieved by the stowing works division of Gubkin’s mine, namely a million’s ton of mill tailings was stowed in the underground chambers (on dry basis). Thus, 3 mln mі of fine pulp with 27.5% of solid weight content was delivered into the mine. It should be mentioned that trial hydraulic stowing works were commenced 10 years ago with filling of the two experimental chambers of the main deposit 14/10—Yu and 14/9—Yu. When they were filled up to the ground level of the horizon air connection, 71 m stowing was suspended and followed with the chamber draining. In 2003 the works were continued at the expanded trial division, including 2 orders of 18 completed chambers. By this time, the first order of 5 chambers was completed and the second one began  (1 chamber was filled up). As a result, 8 completed chambers were filled up, including two trial ones, with the total capacity of 650 thousand mі. The annual storage capacity was developed to 250 thousand tons. High cost-effectiveness should be referred to the positive results of the hydraulic stowing works, along with the systematic reduction of accumulated subsurface voids. Thus, by the results of 2007, the storage value per ton of tails at the tailing storage facility of Lebedinsky mining and processing complex was 83.7 rubles, and 24.3 rubles for the hydraulic stowing division.
