OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2008. Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Turkey, opened a memorial plaque on the former building of the Estonian Consulate General, and an exhibition introducing Estonian design.

“Before World War II, Estonia had nine representations, one of them in Turkey; and Turkey had twenty embassies, one of them in Estonia,” said the Prime Minister, stating that the relations between Estonia and Turkey have been close and mutually beneficial throughout history, and expressed hope for the continued development of relations.

The purpose of the design exhibition is to increase awareness of Estonian designs in Turkey as a whole and to establish relations with Turkish designers and entrepreneurs. The exhibition compiled by the Design Innovation Centre of the Estonian Academy of Arts is part of the 90th Anniversary celebration of the Republic of Estonia in the Republic of Turkey. The ski marathon, taking place in Turkey for the first time, is also part of the celebrations of the 90th Anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, which Prime Minister Andrus Ansip will participate in tomorrow, 16 March.

Prime Minister Andrus Ansip will be on an official visit to Turkey on the invitation of the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoрan until 18 March. The Prime Ministers will meet on Monday, 17 March.
