OREANDA-NEWS. On 17 March 2008 was announced, that the opening ceremony of the School on child rights took place in Astana. 25 teachers of different schools of the city will be learning the basics of human rights philosophy via the training courses that will be offered on the facilities of the school. The project itself was initiated by the Commission on Human Rights under the President of Kazakhstan in cooperation with the UNDP and "Zharia" NGO within the framework of "Strengthening the national potential for the development of National Action plan in human rights in Kazakhstan" project.

School on child rights will be functioning on the premises of vocational training for secondary school teachers, who remain key agents of social engineering for children and should serve as an example of employing the human rights instruments to protect their freedoms and interests. The major goal of the school is to increase the awareness of teaching staff about the children rights and enshrine the human rights culture within the educational circles of Astana. The lectures will be conducted by the officials of international organizations and relevant governmental agencies.
