OREANDA-NEWS. On 27 March 2008 was announced, that as a part of its strategic investment program, Interpipe has purchased equipment for the installation of a new full profile line for railway wheels machining.

The project is aimed at increasing full profile machining facilities for railway wheels. The project will enable Interpipe to manufacture railway wheels at Interpipe’s NTRP mill without the involvement of subcontractors.

The German company Hegenscheidt-MDF was chosen to supply the equipment. The automated line includes four RQQ machines, the complex of inter-machine equipment (systems for loading and unloading of wheels).

The expected capacity of the automated line, which has self-operated control for full profile railway wheel machining, is 100,000 finally machined wheels per year.

Interpipe’s Chief Executive Officer, Alexandr Kirichko said:  “The new equipment was delivered and assembly will start shortly at Interpipe NTRP. The installation of a new automated machining line gives Interpipe the opportunity to improve its manufacturing of railway wheels with the latest technology. We are eager to meet the expectations of all our customers, which include national railroads operators and the largest global wagon building companies. We continuously invest in the modernization of our manufacturing facilities and improve the quality of our end products”.
