OREANDA-NEWS. On 27 March 2008 Sergey Kupin, head of the sports administration of Moscow department of physical training and sports, declared at a conference on March 26, that a large all-season sports complex is to be built in south Moscow.

“The fourth college of Olympic reserve is to be launched in northeast Moscow in the near future, a large all-season complex near Nagornaya metro station is being designed,” Mr Kupin said.

According to him, the complex will contain several springboards and a freestyle skiing track. However, there are a number of complications connected with the construction. There are a lot of industrial plants in that area and it is necessary to remove them out of there.

Mikhail Stepanyants, head of Moscow department of physical training and sports, informed that the department was elaborating the necessary program concerning the training of the sportsmen of Moscow for the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014.

Mr Stepanyants noted that approximately a third of Russia’s national team was the Moscow sportsmen.

The official also added that the first regional doping control lab started operating in Moscow in 2008.

“This is a unique lab. It collaborates with the similar one of Rossport accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada),” Mr Stepanyants said.
