OREANDA-NEWS.  March 31, 2008. Donbass Fuel-Energy Company continues developing its social partnership strategy in the areas where the company’s business operates. Top executives of DTEK and its incorporated assets and the heads of local government bodies of the towns and districts where the Company’s enterprises are located, have signed a long-tern Social Partnership Declaration.

The above has become a breakthrough milestone of DTEK policy development pertaining to its relationship with local communities on the basis of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) concept. In the summer of 2007, the Company signed provisional protocols of intent in the sphere of social partnership with seven towns and cities in the three Regions of Ukraine and, has appropriated over UAH 3m for resolving vital issues pertaining to the development of healthcare, education and infrastructure.

Declaration signing enables the company to apply efficient cooperation experience to its long-term large scale basis operation. The Declaration covers the foundational goals, principles and forms of interaction within the social sphere between the Company, local authorities and general public in these towns and cities. In 2008, two districts in Dnepropetrovsk Region, Petropavlovsky and Pavlogradsky, have joined the members of the social partnership programme – the towns and cities where the Company enterprises are located – Zugres, Kurakhovo, Schast’ye, Kirovskoye, Pavlograd, Ternovka and Pershotravensk. The Company will appropriate UAH 6m for resolving burning social issues in 2008.

In order to strategically co-ordinate its social partnership and improve its efficiency, the Social Partnership Coordination Committee will be formed that will include representatives of all participants of the Declaration. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) will take part in the implementation of DTEK’s Corporate Social Responsibility Policy on a partnership basis and the Agency will provide consulting assistance in elaboration of the strategic plans for the development of the cities and towns for improving attractiveness for investors.
